NVIDIA Corp (NVDA)

-0.20%

CEO Jensen Huang has arrived in Beijing to meet with Chinese officials and tech leaders amid new U.S. restrictions on AI chip sales, as reported by Financial Times citing state media. Huang’s visit follows the U.S. ban on H20 chip exports, which Nvidia says could lead to $5.5 billion charge in fiscal Q1 2026. Stifel maintained its $180 price target and Buy rating on the stock.

Eli Lilly and Co (LLY)

+11.56%

Gapping up after announcing positive topline Phase 3 results from its ACHIEVE-1 trial. The results showed that orforglipron, the first small molecule GLP-1 to reach this stage, significantly lowered A1C levels and reduced body weight in adults with type 2 diabetes. The once-daily oral pill demonstrated a safety and tolerability profile consistent with injectable GLP-1 therapies.

Microsoft Corp (MSFT)

+0.33%

On watch after KeyBanc Capital Markets downgraded the stock to Sector Weight from Overweight, citing concerns over the timing of AI demand monetization, rising capital expenditures, and softening cloud and IT spending expectations. The firm emphasized a decline in Microsoft’s strategic importance and a drop in beat-and-raise performance, further warning that cautious guidance may follow as deal signings slow. Despite the cautious outlook, KeyBanc noted that the company may see resilient first-quarter bookings.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSM)

+3.02%

Trading higher premarket after its Q1 report, with earnings of $2.12 per share and sales of $25.53 billion exceeding estimates of $1.82 and $23.92 billion, respectively. The company guided Q2 revenue between $28.4 billion and $29.2 billion despite ongoing concerns about US tariffs; this outlook outpaced analyst estimates of $26.79 billion.

Meta Platforms Inc (META)

+0.52%

On watch after closing more than 3% lower on Wednesday, its third straight red session. The company’s FTC antitrust trial continued on Wednesday with testimony from former COO Sheryl Sandberg, who spoke about the company’s past efforts to block ads from rival platforms like Google Plus. The trial has also highlighted Meta’s acquisition strategies, including confidential discussions about its Instagram purchase and a $6 billion bid for Snap.

Hertz Global Holdings Inc (HTZ)

+11.56%

Gapping up after rallying in the final minutes of Wednesday’s session. Filings with the SEC as of Wednesday morning revealed that Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Holdings had a 12.7 million-share stake in Hertz, through which it would own roughly 4.1% of the company. Scott Wapner of CNBC reported on Wednesday afternoon that Pershing Square actually owns 19.8% of Hertz through a combination of shares and swaps, making it the company’s second-largest shareholder. The stock has a 39% short float.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (BABA)

+4.02%

Trading sharply higher premarket following a strong overnight session for Chinese stocks, with the tech-heavy Hang Seng index closing 1.61% higher. This rally was attributed in part to comments from the country’s premier on real estate potential. Separately, analysts from Goldman Sachs issued a note warning of potential US outflows of $800 billion for Chinese stocks as market participants assess ongoing trade tensions between the countries.

American Express Co (AXP)

-1.35%

+1.08%

Piper Sandler initiated coverage on the stock with an Overweight rating and a $1,100 price target ahead of its Q1 earnings report, to be released after the bell on Thursday, April 17. Netflix is expected to reported adjusted earnings of $5.69 per share and revenue of $10.54 billion, according to analyst estimates.

Treasure Global Ltd (TGL)

+16.80%
