In The News
Oil and Energy Stocks
+1.21%
Trading higher as a group amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. In a Truth Social post shared on Sunday, President Donald Trump claimed that the US seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman. Trump said the ship was under sanctions and warned of potential strikes on Iran’s infrastructure if no deal is reached, with a ceasefire set to expire this week.

Marvell Technology Inc (MRVL)
+6.95%
Gapping up after The Information reported that Google is in talks with the company to design two AI inference chips. These products include a memory unit to complement TPUs and a new inference-focused TPU. The report also indicated Google could produce nearly 2 million of the memory units, signaling potentially significant demand for Marvell’s custom AI chip capabilities. Broadcom (AVGO) is trading lower on the news; the company previously entered into an agreement to produce future AI chips for Google.
Meta Platforms Inc (META)
-1.02%
On Friday afternoon, Reuters reported that the company plans to begin a major round of layoffs on May 20. The first phase of these job cuts will reportedly impact roughly 8,000 employees, or 10% of Meta’s total workforce. Additional layoffs are expected later in the year, with total reductions potentially reaching 20% or more as the company adjusts plans based on developments in artificial intelligence.
Tesla Inc (TSLA)
-0.91%
The company announced that it is rolling out its robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston, building on its initial launch in Austin, Texas. Tesla shared videos of driverless Model Y vehicles operating in both cities but did not provide details on fleet size or pricing. The company is scheduled to post Q1 2026 earnings after the bell on Wednesday, April 22.
AST SpaceMobile Inc (ASTS)
-15.21%
Gapping down after announcing that its BlueBird 7 satellite was lost after being placed into an unsustainably low orbit due to a New Glenn launch issue, marking its first satellite failure. The company expects insurance to cover the loss and still aims to have about 45 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026. Roughly 30% of the stock’s float is sold short.
Psychedelics Companies
+28.66%
Stocks in the group after gapping up after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to expand research into psychedelic drugs. Trump highlighted the substances’ potential to treat severe mental illness and depression, particularly among veterans. The administration will also invest $50 million in studying ibogaine as part of a broader push into emerging mental health treatments.

Apple Inc (AAPL)
+0.14%
The company has not provided requested data to India’s antitrust regulator following findings that it abused its dominance in the iPhone app market, prompting authorities to fast-track penalty proceedings. Apple warns it could face fines of up to $38 billion if penalties are based on global revenue, as regulators move toward a final hearing next month. Separately, the company won a ruling from the U.S. International Trade Commission, which rejected Masimo attempt to reinstate an import ban on Apple Watches. The ITC found Apple’s redesigned watches do not infringe Masimo’s blood-oxygen patents.
Memory Stocks
-0.57%
A report from Nikkei Asia indicated that global DRAM supply is projected to meet only about 60% of demand through 2027 as major producers like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron prioritize high-margin AI memory. Rising memory costs could significantly impact devices, with DRAM potentially making up nearly 40% of low-end smartphone production costs by mid-2026, up from about 20% today.

USA Rare Earth Inc (USAR)
+2.81%
The company announced that it is acquiring Serra Verde Group in a $2.8B deal consisting of $300M in cash and roughly 126.8M new shares. The acquisition provides access to Brazil’s Serra Verde operation, described as the only large-scale producer outside Asia of all four key magnetic rare earth elements.
Crypto Stocks
-2.56%
Trading lower as a group following a decline in the price of Bitcoin over the weekend. After reaching a session high of $78,400 on Friday, Bitcoin traded as low as $73,800 on Sunday. The cryptocurrency has already recovered to trade above $75,200 as of Monday at 7:30 AM, on track for its fourth straight green week.

American Airlines and United Airlines
-3.44%
American Airlines said it is not interested in merging with United Airlines and has not held any discussions regarding a potential merger. The comments were made in response to reports from last week suggesting that United CEO Scott Kirby spoke to the Trump administration about the possibility of a merger between the companies. A merger of the two largest US carriers would face intense regulatory, labor, and consumer scrutiny over competition concerns, making approval unlikely despite their dominant global capacity.
AAL, UAL
Robinhood Markets Inc (HOOD)
-2.11%
On watch after Mizuho raised its price target on the stock to $115, citing multiple catalysts despite only modest near-term impact from the SEC’s removal of the $25K pattern day trader rule. The firm estimates the rule change could boost FY27 sales by 1%–2%, while longer-term upside is driven by international expansion and strong cross-sell opportunities within Robinhood’s user base.
QXO Inc (QXO)
-4.00%
Trading sharply lower premarket after announcing a $17 billion acquisition TopBuild, an insulation materials company. QXO said the deal will create a higher-margin business and be immediately accretive to earnings.
Clearmind Medicine Inc (CMND)
+69.51%
Gapping up after reporting positive Phase I/IIa trial results for CMND-100, a non-hallucinogenic oral drug targeting Alcohol Use Disorder. The study met its primary safety endpoint, showing strong tolerability with no serious adverse events in the highest-dose cohort, alongside early signs of potential efficacy. The stock, which has rallied in the past, has a market capitalization of $1.5 million.
