In The News

Tesla Inc (TSLA)

+0.92%

The European Commission reduced its proposed tariff on the company’s cars imported from China to 9%, down from 20.8%, following a recalculation based on specific subsidies received by Tesla. Despite the reduction, the Commission maintained that Chinese EV production benefits from extensive subsidies, proposing final duties of up to 36.3% for non-cooperating companies.

Palo Alto Networks Inc (PANW)

+2.37%

Trading higher premarket after its Q4 2024 earnings report, with adjusted earnings of $1.51 per share and sales of $2.189 billion exceeding expectations of $1.41 and $2.162 billion, respectively. Revenue grew by 12% on a year-over-year basis. The company guided Q1 2025 revenue between $2.1 billion and $2.13 billion and EPS between $1.47 and $1.49, above analyst estimates, with the top ends of its EPS and revenue guidance for fiscal 2025 also exceeding expectations. Palo Alto also announced a $500 million increase to their share buyback program, which expires at the end of 2025.

Xpeng Inc (XPEV)

+0.83%

On watch after its earnings report. The Chinese EV maker reported losses of $0.18 per share, in line with analyst estimates, and sales of $1.12 billion, slightly below estimates of $1.13 billion. Vehicle deliveries reached 30,207 for Q2, up 30.2% on a year-over-year basis, with revenue from vehicle sales increasing by 54.1%. Xpeng projected deliveries of between 41,000 and 45,000 vehicles for Q3, which would represent an increase of 2.5%-12.5% year-over-year.

Crypto Stocks

+2.67%

Trading higher as a group amid a rebound in Bitcoin, with the cryptocurrency trading back above the $60,000 level as of Tuesday morning. Ethereum also pushed higher to trade near $2,650. Separately, Bit Digital is gapping up following its earnings report; the company reported a larger-than-expected loss per share but beat sales estimates, and announced a five-year binding term sheet with computing company Boosteroid.

BTBT, MARA, COIN, RIOT, HUT, CLSK, MSTR, IBIT, BITO, ETHE

Chinese ADRs

-3.07%

Trading lower as a group following China's decision to halt the daily release of foreign fund flow data, which had been a key sentiment indicator for investors. This move has heightened investor anxiety, particularly as China's economy faces challenges like a struggling property sector and weak consumer sentiment, leading to a continued retreat from Chinese stocks.

BABA, JD, LI, NIO, BILI, BIDU, PDD

Paramount Global (PARA)

-2.95%

On watch after veteran media executive Edgar Bronfman Jr. submitted a $4.3 billion bid to acquire the company through National Amusements, threatening to disrupt a planned acquisition by David Ellison's Skydance Media. Bronfman's offer includes $2.4 billion in debt and equity for National Amusements, $1.5 billion to reduce Paramount's debt, and an additional $400 million to cover a breakup fee for the rival deal.

Eli Lilly and Co (LLY)

+1.65%

Trading higher premarket after data showed that the company’s weight-loss drug significantly reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 94% in overweight or obese pre-diabetic adults after three years of weekly injections. This data comes from the company’s SURMOUNT-1 study, the longest completed trial of the drug.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc (HA)

+11.12%

Trading sharply higher premarket after the company’s proposed merger with Alaska Airlines received clearance from the U.S. Justice Department, with final approval now pending from the U.S. Transportation Department. If approved, this $1.9 billion merger would create a combined entity with over 360 airplanes and 130 destinations, marking the largest U.S. airline merger since Alaska Airlines merged with Virgin America.

Treasure Global Inc (TGL)

+179.31%

Trading higher premarket with no apparent catalyst. The stock has a market capitalization of $756,730 and a float of 708,710 shares, roughly 1.8% of which are sold short.
