Trading marginally lower as a group in tandem with index futures after President Donald Trump removed Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from the central bank’s board. The move is seen as a challenge to Fed independence, though it will likely be met with legal challenges. Trump also announced that countries that do not remove digital services taxes or market regulations against the US will face “substantial” tariffs.

The company, alongside OpenAI, faces a lawsuit from Elon Musk’s xAI. The suit, according to court filings on Monday, accuses Apple and OpenAI of violating antitrust laws by favoring ChatGPT over xAI’s Grok and blocking competition. Musk previously criticized Apple for excluding Grok from App Store rankings despite strong user reviews.

On watch following a weak session for both Bitcoin and Ethereum on Monday, with Bitcoin losing nearly 3% and Ethereum closing more than 8% lower. Bitcoin has been pulling back from its recent all-time high above $124,000, made on August 14; Ethereum made its most recent all-time high on Sunday and is still trading near that level. While Bitcoin is poised to net a four-day losing streak, Ethereum is marginally green as of Tuesday at 7:40 AM ET.

On watch as a group after the Wall Street Journal reported that a senior negotiator with China’s trade team is set to travel to Washington later this week. This round of talks between China and US would be the first on US soil, following two prior trade-related meetings between both countries’ delegations in Europe. Both the CSI 300 and Hang Seng traded lower during Tuesday’s overnight session.

Trading marginally higher premarket after Korean Air placed its largest-ever order worth $50 billion, including 103 Boeing aircraft valued at $36.5 billion and a $13.7 billion deal with GE Aerospace for engines and servicing. The purchase, announced during President Lee Jae Myung’s U.S. visit, will include about half 737 MAX 10s with the remainder split between 777-9 and 787 models.

Trading higher premarket after reporting strong Phase 3 trial results for its oral obesity and diabetes drug, orforglipron. The trial results show that the pill helped patients lose about 23 pounds on average and significantly improved blood sugar control. The pill matched the effectiveness of injectable GLP-1 drugs while maintaining a similar safety profile.

On watch after making noteworthy moves during Monday’s session. The stock opened higher and rallied throughout the morning and midday before selling off into the afternoon, closing nearly 10% lower. Opendoor has received increased attention from retail and institutional investors over the last month, driven in part by social media action from investors like Anthony Pompliano and Eric Jackson.

Gapping up after gaining more than 100% to close out Monday’s session. The stock rallied on no apparent news catalyst and garnered subsequent attention from retail traders and on social media.
