Trading sharply higher premarket after forming a consortium with Anduril. This partnership is focused on ensuring the U.S. government leads in artificial intelligence by providing advanced technological infrastructure, according to a press release. Both semiconductor stocks are trading lower premarket with individual catalysts. Nvidia is trading lower after Reuters reported that the China's market regulator is investigating the company over alleged violations of the country's anti-monopoly law. This move follows the U.S.'s latest crackdown on China's semiconductor industry, which imposed export restrictions on 140 companies. Meanwhile, Advanced Micro Devices was downgraded from Buy to Neutral by B of A Securities, and its price target was cut from $180 to $155.
NVDA, AMD
Tesla Inc (TSLA)
+2.22%
The stock briefly breached the key $400 level premarket after the company unveiled its planned Model Q vehicle. The car, aimed at the Chinese market, would cost under $30,000 and compete with vehicles like BYD’s Dolphin and Volkswagen’s ID 3. Tesla’s stock has surged since the election of Donald Trump and was especially strong during the first week of December, with analysts like B of A Securities and Roth MKM raising their price targets for the stock.
Super Micro Computer Inc (SMCI)
+8.24%
Super Micro has been granted an extension by Nasdaq, giving the company until February 25, 2025 to file its Form 10-K for fiscal 2024 and its Form 10-Q for Q1 2025. Last week, the company announced that an independent investigation into its board found no evidence of wrongdoing. Lynx Equity raised its price target for the stock from $45 to $60 following the extension announcement, saying that “many investors are likely to return” to the stock.
Chinese ADRs
+7.97%
Trading sharply higher as a group following a strong overnight session in China, with the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gaining 3.1% for its best one-day performance since October 18. The rally began after China’s top leaders pledged to ease monetary policy, expand fiscal spending, and stabilize property and stock markets. Bond yields hit record lows as the market rallied, and the offshore yuan strengthened slightly against the dollar.
