In The News
USA Rare Earth Inc (USAR)
+23.01%
The company has entered into a letter of intent (LOI) with the Commerce Department for $1.6 billion in funding. Alongside the LOI disclosure, USA Rare Earth announced $1.5 billion in investment from the private sector. The Financial Times previously reported that the Trump administration would be taking a 10% stake in the company as part of a $1.6 billion debt-and-equity investment package.
Precious Metals
+4.05%
Trading sharply higher as a group, with gold passing the $5000-dollar threshold for the first time in its history. Traders and investors appear to be rotating into safe-haven assets as geopolitical tensions and trade concerns continue to escalate. US President Donald Trump announced that Canada will face a 100% tariff if it enters into a trade agreement with China, and the odds of a US government by the end of the week are increasing.
GLD, SLV
Meta, Tesla, Microsoft, and Apple
-0.32%
All four companies are scheduled to post quarterly earnings this week. Meta, Tesla, and Microsoft are scheduled to report on Wednesday, while Apple is set to report on Thursday. Analyst estimates imply revenue growth in the double digits-percentage for Meta, Microsoft, and Apple, with Tesla’s revenue is expected to decline by 2%. Rothschild Redburn upgraded Meta to Buy from Neutral and raised its price target to $900, arguing the stock’s long-term value is being overlooked amid investor fears over rising AI-driven spending.

Crypto Stocks
-1.87%
Trading lower as a group following a pullback in Bitcoin over the weekend. The cryptocurrency dropped from $89,000 to $86,000 on Sunday night, though it has since recovered to trade near $87,800 as of Monday at 7:20 AM ET. The move comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainty,

Semiconductors and Memory Stocks
-0.77%
On watch as a group amid reports out of Korea which suggest that Samsung has begun supplying HBM4 memory to Nvidia and AMD, with prices surging as demand tightens across the AI supply chain. HBM3E pricing is reportedly up 40–50%, while HBM4 is trending toward around $600—above prior mid-$500 expectations—as SK Hynix prepares to ramp supply after meeting Nvidia’s higher speed requirements.

IonQ Inc (IONQ)
+2.29%
Trading higher premarket after announcing plans to acquire SkyWater Technology ($SKYT) for about $1.8B, or $35 per share. SkyWater shareholders will receive $15 in cash and $20 in IonQ stock, subject to a collar. IonQ said the deal will create a more vertically integrated quantum computing platform by bringing chip manufacturing capabilities in-house.
Revolution Medicines Inc (RVMD)
-19.92%
Gapping down after the Wall Street Journal reported that Merck has ended takeover talks with the company after the two sides failed to agree on valuation. The report noted discussions could potentially restart or another bidder could emerge, though neither company commented. Revolution Medicines has a market capitalization of $22.74 billion and a float of 165.32 million shares, approximately 9.3% of which are sold short.
United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG)
+4.72%
February natural gas futures topped $6 for the first time since December 2022 amid extreme winter demand. A massive storm system, Winter Storm Fern, knocked out power to over 822,000 customers and is forecast to impact up to 180 million people across 37 states with heavy snow and dangerous ice.
AppLovin Corp (APP)
+2.21%
Trading higher premarket after Needham upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold and set a $700 price target, citing stronger confidence in ecommerce revenue growth for 2026. The firm raised its 2026 ecommerce revenue estimate to $1.45B from $1.05B, driven by advertiser growth from the self-service launch. Needham also sees further upside potential if AppLovin’s revenue trajectory begins to resemble that of TikTok.
Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM)
+1.42%
XTO Energy, a subsidiary of Exxon, is exploring market interest in selling select assets in the Eagle Ford shale basin in South Texas. The package, according to an Exxon spokesperson cited by Reuters, includes more than 1,000 wells spanning operated, non-operated, and royalty interests. Exxon plans to market the assets internally without hiring investment banks.
Airlines
-0.93%
Trading lower as a group amid increased concerns about flight delays and cancellations connected to a massive storm in the US. During a Sunday interview with Fox News, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said that flight cancellations were at their highest level since March of 2020 and urged customers to avoid airlines that participate in price gouging.
