DJT Surges After Trump Assassination Attempt, AAPL Gets a Nod from Goldman Sachs!

Futures are trading higher premarket amid increasing enthusiasm about rate cuts. This follows a strong rally on Friday, with Wall Street's main indexes hitting record highs amid increased bets on a September Fed rate cut due to lower-than-expected inflation data. Traders are now anticipating multiple rate cuts this year, with comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell and Fed’s Daly on watch during Monday’s session. Megacap tech companies like Apple and Tesla are trading sharply higher premarket, while Broadcom is on watch on its first day of trading after its 10-for-1 stock split. Additionally, shares of companies linked to Donald Trump are gapping up after the former president survived a shooting on Saturday.

In The News

Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT)

+45.68%

Gapping up following the shooting of former US president Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. Filings show that Trump owns 114.7 million shares of Trump Media & Technology Group, which amounts to 64.9% of the company. Other stocks linked to Trump, including Phunware (PHUN) and Rumble (RUM) are making smaller premarket gains.

Apple Inc (AAPL)

+1.89%

Trading higher premarket after Bloomberg reported that the company’s sales in India surged 33% to nearly $8 billion in the year ending March, driven significantly by iPhone sales which constituted more than half of the total. Additionally, Morgan Stanley has added Apple to its "top pick" list, raising the price target to $273 due to anticipated multi-year upgrades fueled by the company's AI features. The stock was also upgraded from Hold to Buy by Loop Capital and given a $300 price target.

Tesla Inc (TSLA)

+3.77%

Trading sharply higher premarket. CEO Elon Musk endorsed Donald Trump’s campaign for US presidency on social media following Trump’s shooting. The stock is also continuing to recover from a sharp selloff on Thursday, driven by a Bloomberg report that the company’s RoboTaxi unveiling would be delayed from August to October.

NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices

+1.48%

Both semiconductor stocks are trading higher after each stock received a price target hike from TD Cowen. Nvidia’s price target was increased from $140 to $165, while AMD’s price target was hiked from $200 to $210. Separately, the French competition authority has confirmed an ongoing investigation into Nvidia for alleged anti-competitive practices, with agency president Benoit Coeure indicating potential charges if the investigation proves fruitful.

NVDA, AMD

Super Micro Computer Inc (SMCI)

+2.97%

Trading higher premarket after announcing that it will be joining the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index. The addition will take place as of July 22, with the company replacing Walgreens Boots Alliance in the index. Additionally, Super Micro’s price target was increased from $285 to $325 by Susquehanna.

Crypto Stocks

+4.23%

Trading higher as a group amid strength in Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency is poised for its best session since May 20, which would mark a three-day winning streak. Ethereum is also trading sharply higher as of Monday morning. The gains follow Donald Trump’s assassination attempt; Trump has spoken positively about crypto during his presidential campaign.

MARA, COIN, IBIT, RIOT, MSTR, CLSK, HUT, HOOD

Chinese Stocks

-2.97%

Trading lower as a group after China's economy grew slower than expected in the second quarter, expanding by 4.7% compared to the 5.1% forecast. This slower growth has particularly impacted retail sales, with growth in that sector hitting an 18-month low amid deflationary pressures. Additionally, China’s third plenum, an economic and social policy meeting that occurs once in a five-year period, began on Monday.

BABA, JD, PDD, BIDU, BILI, NIO, LI, XPEV

DatChat Inc (DATS)

+110.58%

Gapping up on no apparent catalyst. The social media messaging company has a market capitalization of $3.13 million, and its stock has a float of roughly 2.73 million shares.

Mira Pharmaceuticals Inc (MIRA)

+79.90%

Trading sharply higher premarket after announcing findings from preclinical studies of its novel oral pharmaceutical marijuana analog, MIRA-55, which is being investigated as a potential treatment for anxiety and cognitive decline. The new data confirmed MIRA-55's pharmacological profile and potential efficacy, showing promising results when compared directly to THC.
