In The News

Tesla Inc (TSLA)

+1.71%

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it is easing regulations to accelerate the deployment of autonomous vehicles, including Tesla's upcoming Cybercab, by streamlining the exemption process for vehicles that lack traditional controls like steering wheels and pedals. As Tesla prepares to launch its robotaxi service in Austin on June 22 using Model Ys, the updated rules aim to support innovation in the AV sector amid evolving technologies and regulatory challenges.

Alphabet Inc (GOOGL)

+0.55%

Reuters reported that the company plans to sever ties with Scale AI, its largest data-labeling vendor, after learning that rival Meta Platforms is acquiring a 49% stake in the startup. This could lead the company to redirect a $200 million contract to Scale’s competitors. According to the report, Microsoft and xAI are also considering cutting ties with Scale in light of the Meta deal. Meanwhile, the U.S. Justice Department is reviewing Google's planned acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz for possible antitrust concerns related to market competition.

United States Steel Corp (X)

+5.10%

Gapping up after President Donald Trump approved Nippon Steel's $14.9 billion acquisition of the company. Trump granted his approval after the companies signed an agreement with the Treasury Department addressing national security concerns. The deal includes $11 billion in planned U.S. investments by 2028 and commitments on governance, production, and trade.

Amazon.com Inc (AMZN)

+0.47%

On watch after announcing plans to invest A$20 billion (~$13 billion USD) between 2025 and 2029 to expand its data center infrastructure in Australia, marking its largest technology commitment in the country and aiming to support AI development and server capacity. The company is also backing three new solar farms in Victoria and Queensland, securing over 170 megawatts of combined capacity as part of its sustainability efforts.

The Boeing Company (BA)

+0.58%

The company is set to attend the 2025 Paris Air Show this week amid scrutiny following last week’s Air India crash. India's aviation regulator has ordered immediate inspections of all 34 Boeing 787 aircraft operated by Indian carriers following the crash; Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said eight planes have already been inspected. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said that the department will “take action” if “safety issues” are found to have contributed to the incident.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD)

+2.29%

Trading higher premarket after Piper Sandler raised its price target for the stock from $125 to $140 while maintaining its Overweight rating. The analyst cited optimism around new product launches like the Helios rack and expected growth in the AMD Instinct line as reasons for the price target increase. Piper Sandler also anticipates a recovery in AMD's GPU business by Q4 2025, noting early positive momentum in the company’s client segment.

Chinese ADRs

+1.43%

Trading higher as a group following positive closes for both the CSI 300 Index and the Hang Seng Index during Monday’s overnight session. China's retail sales rose 6.4% year-over-year in May, the fastest pace since late 2023 and well above expectations, following government subsidies aimed at stimulating consumer spending. The stronger-than-expected growth offers a positive sign for China's economy, which has been grappling with deflationary pressures.

BABA, BILI, BIDU, PDD, JD, LI, NIO, XPEV, FXI, KWEB

The integration enhances ad targeting across major streaming platforms, with early tests showing a 40% increase in unique viewers reached and a 30% reduction in ad repetition using the same budget.

Airo Group Holdings Inc (AIRO)

+42.50%

Gapping up following a successful IPO on Friday. The stock opened just below $13, above the expected $10 but below its anticipated price range of $14 to $16, and reached an intraday high of $39.07 before pulling back to close at $24. Airo is a drone and eVOTL developer working primarily in aerospace and defense.

Sarepta Therapeutics Inc (SRPT)

-38.92%

Gapping down after reporting a second patient death from acute liver failure linked to its gene therapy Elevidys for a rare muscular dystrophy. Both fatalities occurred in non-ambulatory patients. In response, Sarepta has temporarily halted Elevidys shipments for non-ambulatory patients and is working with experts and regulators to assess a safer immunosuppressive regimen.

Dawson Geophysical Co (DWSN)

+513.14%

Gapping up on no apparent news catalyst. The stock has a market capitalization of $257 million and a float of 6.25 million shares.
