In The News
Meta Platforms Inc (META)
-0.06%
The stock dropped late on Thursday afternoon after the Wall Street Journal reported delays in the release of Meta’s next-gen AI model, Behemoth. The model is expected to be released in the fall of 2025 at the minimum amid engineering challenges and internal disagreements. Separately, Meta has asked a federal judge to dismiss the FTC’s antitrust case, arguing the agency failed to prove that Meta maintained an illegal monopoly by acquiring Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta contends the evidence shows these acquisitions did not stifle competition and that the FTC's case lacks a clear distinction between traditional social media and broader content platforms like TikTok.
Novo Nordisk A/S (NVO)
-4.74%
CEO Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen is stepping down amid market challenges and a sharp decline in the company's share price. The company emphasized that its strategy remains unchanged and that Jørgensen will stay on temporarily to support a smooth leadership transition. Novo Nordisk’s stock has dropped over 50% since mid-2024 due to rising competition and underwhelming trial results.
NVIDIA Corp (NVDA)
+0.97%
The Financial Times reported that the company plans to establish a research and development center in Shanghai to better address the specific needs of Chinese customers and navigate U.S. export restrictions. CEO Jensen Huang reportedly discussed the initiative with Shanghai’s mayor last month. The story highlights Nvidia’s efforts to maintain competitiveness in the Chinese market.
Super Micro Computer Inc (SMCI)
+2.07%
Trading higher premarket after announcing the introduction of its Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) to simplify the deployment of liquid-cooled AI data centers by providing all essential infrastructure components in a standardized yet flexible architecture. This expanded solution streamlines planning, building, and operating advanced AI facilities while lowering costs and supporting high-demand training and inference workloads.
Alphabet Inc (GOOGL)
+1.43%
Trading higher after Reuters reported that Google One, Alphabet Inc.'s cloud storage and AI subscription service, has surpassed 150 million subscribers—a 50% jump since February 2024. The growth was boosted by the launch of a $19.99/month AI tier, which has attracted millions of new users seeking access to premium AI features. Separately, 13-F filings revealed that some major investors adjusted their positions in the company; Ray Dalio’s Bridgewater Associates cut its Alphabet position by 16%, and Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square cut its Class C shares by 13% while increasing its Class A shares by 11%.
Apple Inc (AAPL)
+0.16%
CNBC-TV18 reported that despite criticism from President Donald Trump, Apple has reaffirmed its commitment to India as a key manufacturing base, with Indian officials emphasizing that the company's investment plans remain unchanged. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives noted that producing iPhones in the US is “not feasible” for the company; this is the solution favored by Trump.
