In The News

Palantir Technologies Inc (PLTR)

+2.59%

Trading higher premarket ahead of its Q1 2026 earnings report, to be released after the bell on Monday, May 4 (ETA 4:05 PM ET). Analysts are looking for the AI and defense play to post earnings of $0.28 per share and sales of $1.54 billion.

GameStop and eBay

+1.22%

On watch as a pair after GameStop announced an unsolicited $55.5 billion cash-and-stock offer to acquire eBay at $125 per share, a significant premium. GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen indicated that he aims to transform eBay into a stronger competitor to Amazon. Cohen’s company has built a ~5% stake in eBay and has a commitment letter from TD Bank for debt financing valued at up to $20 billion. GameStop is trading lower premarket, while eBay gapped up as much as 10% on the news.

GME, EBAY

Crypto Stocks

+3.04%

Trading higher as a group following Bitcoin’s technical breakout above the $80,000 level early on Monday morning. On Friday, Coinbase said a key provision in major U.S. crypto legislation has been resolved, potentially allowing the bill to advance in the Senate after earlier delays. The dispute centered on whether stablecoin issuers can offer yield and rewards. This framework is opposed by banks but supported by crypto firms like Coinbase, which argue such incentives are essential for competition and customer growth.

COIN, MSTR, MARA, RIOT, IBIT, ETHE, HUT, CLSK, IREN, CAN, HIVE

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH)

-7.76%

Gapping down after its Q1 2026 earnings report. Revenue came in at $2.3 billion, below estimates of $2.36 billion, while earnings of $0.23 per share beat estimates of $0.15. The company guided earnings between $1.45 and $1.79 per share for FY 2026, well below estimates of $2.12.

Oil Stocks

+1.34%

Trading higher as a group as the conflict between the US and Iran enters its third month. Iranian state media outlets have reported that Iran attacked a US warship, though these reports have been denied by senior US officials. As of Sunday evening, US President Donald Trump reportedly said that the latest deal proposal from Iran was “unacceptable” to him.

USO, XOM, OXY, DVN, CVX, COP, EONR, RE, BATL

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD)

-0.76%

HSBC downgraded the stock to Hold from Buy, citing limited upside after a sharp valuation re-rating and ongoing foundry capacity constraints that could cap near-term earnings growth. While demand for AI-driven server CPUs remains strong, the firm cut its AI GPU revenue outlook and expects supply issues tied to TSMC to persist through 2026, with clearer upside potential only emerging in 2027. AMD is scheduled to report earnings at approximately 4:15 PM ET on Tuesday, May 5.

Alphabet Inc (GOOGL)

+0.06%

On watch after Citizens raised its price target on the stock to a Street high of $515 while maintaining a Buy rating. The price target increase follows a strong earnings report from Google last week, wherein the company indicated strong growth across its many business segments.

NVIDIA Corp (NVDA)

-0.10%

In an interview with the Special Competitive Studies Project, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang indicated that the company’s market share in China has dwindled to 0%. Huang further asserted that US export policy, which has repeatedly and increasingly moved to block the shipments of advanced AI chips to China, has “already largely backfired”. Separately, competitor Cerebras Systems is reportedly aiming to raise up to $3.5 billion in a US IPO as it looks to capitalize on strong demand for AI hardware.

The Trade Desk Inc (TTD)

+1.57%

Trading higher premarket after Wedbush upgraded the stock from Underperform, saying World Cup and political ad spending could offset competitive pressures and recent audit-related concerns, with no major advertiser exodus observed. The firm remains cautious on The Trade Desk’s long-term positioning versus closed-loop ecosystems like Amazon, maintaining a $23 price target due to potential growth limitations and reliance on partner-based data.

Apple Inc (AAPL)

-0.49%

The company raised the Mac mini’s starting price to $799 from $599 after strong AI-driven demand and chip supply constraints depleted lower-end inventory. The base 256GB model has been eliminated, with the entry configuration now starting at 512GB storage alongside the M4 chip.

Meta Platforms Inc (META)

-0.05%

The company faces a New Mexico trial that could force major operational changes to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp if a judge finds the platforms constitute a public nuisance. The lawsuit alleges Meta’s products harm young users through addictive design and inadequate protections, with broader implications for similar cases nationwide.

Amazon.com Inc (AMZN)

-0.13%

The company announced the launch of Amazon Supply Chain Services, allowing businesses to use its end-to-end logistics network for freight, storage, fulfillment, and delivery. Both United Parcel Service and FedEx are trading lower premarket on the news.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRK.B)

+0.49%

Trading marginally higher premarket following its annual meeting for 2026, the company’s first under new CEO Greg Abel. Berkshire’s Q1 2026 operating profit grew by 18% year-over-year to $11.35 billion, though recent wildfires in California contributed to weakness in the company’s insurance business. The company’s famed cash pile hit a record $397 billion.

BlackBerry (BB)

+12.36%

Gapping up amid renewed investor interest. On April 20, 2026, the company announced that its QNX business has expanded its collaboration with NVIDIA. The stock has a $3.2-billion market capitalization and a 5.2% short float.

Ouster Inc (OUST)

+7.83%

Gapping up after launching its Rev8 lidar lineup, including the OS1 Max, which it says is the first lidar with native color sensing. The sensor can process 10.4 million points per second, detect objects up to 200 meters at low reflectivity, and reach a maximum range of 500 meters. Ouster has a market capitalization of $1.68 billion and a short float of approximately 8.9%.
