In The News
Nike Inc (NKE)
+3.90%
Trading sharply higher premarket following its Q1 2026 earnings report, with earnings of $0.49 per share and sales of $11.72 billion beating estimates of $0.27 and $11 billion, respectively. Gross margin decreased by 320 basis points year-over-year, which CEO Elliott Hill attributed to higher discounts and tariff impacts. During the company’s conference call, CFO Matthew Friend noted that tariffs are likely to cost Nike $1.5 billion versus the $1 billion estimate provided earlier.
Lithium Americas Corp (LAC)
+32.40%
Gapping up after announcing that the US Department of Energy has taken a 5% stake in the company and a 5% stake in its Thacker Pass JV with GM. The department also approved the first $435 million draw from a $2.26 billion loan to advance the project. The total value of the deal, which was initially reported last week, has not been disclosed.
NVIDIA Corp (NVDA)
-0.60%
The company rallied to new all-time highs on Tuesday morning, making it the first company with a market capitalization of greater than $4.5 trillion. Citigroup and Keybanc raised their price targets on the stock to $210 and $250, respectively, prior to Tuesday’s session. Nvidia has announced major investments over the last few weeks, particularly in Intel and OpenAI.
Crypto Stocks
+2.93%
Trading higher as a group in tandem with strength in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin opened Wednesday’s trading session near $114,000 and is trading around $116,400 as of 7:25 AM ET, and Ethereum is similarly poised to record a green session. Coinbase is especially on watch after BTIG initiated coverage on the stock with a Buy rating and a $410 price target, citing the company’s “underappreciated” derivatives business and BaseApp.
COIN, MSTR, MARA, RIOT, IBIT, ETHE, HUT, CLSK, IREN, CAN, HIVE
Tesla Inc (TSLA)
-0.36%
The company raised lease prices across its U.S. lineup after the federal $7,500 EV tax credit expired on September 30. Model Y leases now range from $529–$599 per month (up from $479–$529), with Model 3 leases priced at $429–$759 (up from $349–$699). Tesla posted sales gains in France and Denmark last month, with the revamped Model Y topping Denmark’s charts. Tesla is expected to release its hotly-anticipated Q3 2025 delivery numbers on Thursday, October 2.
AES Corp (AES)
+12.69%
The Financial Times reported that BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners is close to a $38 billion deal, including debt, to acquire AES Corp. The potential takeover comes amid surging utility demand from AI and data centers. Talks are reportedly advanced but not yet finalized.
Advanced Micro Devices and IBM
-0.26%
On watch as a pair after signing a multi-year deal with open-source AI company Zyphra, under which IBM will provide a large cluster of AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs on its cloud platform. Zyphra will use the infrastructure to train advanced multimodal foundation models, strengthening IBM’s AI cloud offerings and AMD’s footprint in AI hardware.
AMD, IBM
Apple, Meta Platforms, and Alphabet
-0.47%
A federal judge rejected the companies’ bid to dismiss lawsuits accusing them of promoting illegal gambling through casino-style apps, ruling Section 230 does not fully shield them from liability. While some state law claims were tossed, most consumer protection claims will proceed. Plaintiffs in the suit allege the companies ran an illegal racketeering scheme by hosting and profiting from the apps. Separately, Apple and OpenAI jointly asked a U.S. judge to dismiss Elon Musk’s xAI lawsuit, which accused them of illegally conspiring to block competition in AI.
AAPL, META, GOOGL
Occidental Petroleum Corp (OXY)
+0.53%
Berkshire Hathaway is reportedly in talks to acquire the company’s OxyChem unit for about $10 billion, in what would be Berkshire’s biggest deal since buying Alleghany in 2022. The sale, part of Occidental’s cash-raising efforts, could be finalized within days. Berkshire currently holds a 27% stake in Occidental.
DraftKings Inc (DKNG)
-1.47%
Trading lower premarket despite a positive note from Jefferies, which maintained its Buy rating and $54 price target on the stock. Jefferies emphasized DraftKings’ strong quarter-to-date metrics, with broader state GGR and iGaming results also showing strong growth. The analyst argued that the stock’s recent weakness - which includes a more-than-11% decline on Tuesday - could serve as a buying opportunity.
Hims & Hers Health Inc (HIMS)
-0.81%
BofA reiterated its Underperform rating and $28 price target on the stock. The analyst noted that while August data suggested potential for a Q3 beat, a slowdown in September sales growth indicates that quarterly earnings will likely be in-line or slightly below Street estimates. BofA also flagged weakening order growth, tougher 2025 comps from last year’s GLP-1 ramp, and rising competition as reasons for increased caution heading into the next two quarters.
Opendoor Technologies Inc (OPEN)
+1.25%
Trading higher premarket following an insider share purchase. According to a Form 4 filing with the SEC, co-founder and director Eric Wu purchased 300,752 Opendoor shares at $6.65 per share on average. Approximately 25.9% of the stock’s float is sold short.
Chijet Motor Co (CJET)
+98.27%
The company secured a memorandum of understanding with institutional investors to expand its private placement from $20 million to up to $1 billion. The stock has a market capitalization of $3.07 million and a float of approximately 15.67 million shares.
