In The News

NVIDIA Corp (NVDA)

+2.42%

Trading higher after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced via a press release that the company is slated to replace Intel in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, effective as of the opening of the November 8th trading session. Additionally, the chair of SK Group announced that CEO Jensen Huang asked if SK Hynix, a key Nvidia supplier, could expedite its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chip production by six months.

Tesla Inc (TSLA)

-2.05%

The company’s China-made vehicle deliveries dropped by 5.3% year-over-year in October, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. Including exports, Tesla China’s sales of 68,280 vehicles in October 2024 represents a 22.7% month-over-month decline and marks its weakest month since April 2024. In contrast, BYD’s October vehicle sales across all its models grew by 66.5% year-over-year.

Apple Inc (AAPL)

-0.45%

Trading marginally lower premarket after Berkshire Hathaway’s Q3 earnings report revealed that the company now holds $69.9 billion in Apple, representing a 67.2% year-over-year decline. The Warren Buffet-led firm previously sold almost half of its position in the company during Q2 2024 and now holds roughly 300 million Apple shares as of the end of Q3 2024.

Crypto Stocks

-1.72%

Trading lower as a group following a selloff in Bitcoin over the weekend. The cryptocurrency, which opened above $70,000 on Friday and traded as high as $71,600 during that session, reached $67,500 at its weekend lows on Sunday. Bitcoin is trading around $68,900 as of Monday morning.

MARA, IBIT, ETHE, COIN, RIOT, MSTR, HUT, CLSK, IREN, CAN, HIVE

Meta Platforms Inc (META)

-0.73%

The Financial Times reported that the company’s plans to build a nuclear-powered AI data center in the U.S. were disrupted after the discovery of a rare bee species on the designated site, creating environmental and regulatory complications. This report comes as competitors like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft secure nuclear energy for their data centers, though Meta reportedly remains committed to exploring alternative energy sources.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSM)

+1.12%

Trading higher premarket after Channel News Asia (CNA) reported that the company plans to double its CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate) advanced packaging capacity by 2025 to meet surging demand from AI chip manufacturers. Despite this expansion, demand continues to exceed supply, prompting TSMC to collaborate with Amkor at its Arizona plant to boost U.S.-based advanced packaging production, according to the report.

Super Micro Computer Inc (SMCI)

-0.61%

On watch following a volatile week of trading which saw the stock give up all of its year-to-date gains. The decline started with a more-than-30% drop on Wednesday, October 30 after the company’s independent auditor resigned. After the bell on Friday, November 1, Super Micro announced via a filing that it has amended an existing loan agreement to extend the deadlines for delivering its fiscal year and quarterly financial statements to December 31, 2024. SMCI is set to report earnings after the bell on November 5.

Nuclear and Energy Stocks

-6.89%

Trading lower as a group in sympathy with Constellation Energy Group, which is down more than 12% premarket following its Q3 2024 earnings report. The company beat EPS and sales estimates, but its increased 2024 EPS guidance of $8.00-$8.40 fell short of the estimated $8.43. The group has been on watch since the announcement of Constellation’s 20-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft to help restart Three Mile Island Unit 1.
